However, for most of nanoscale functional materials, drastic structural changes during electro-cycles can lead to the formation of new active sites or different phases, implying complex and distinctive processes. Based on synchrotron radiation X-ray light source, many state-of-the-art X-ray methods can be developed to probe such dynamitic changes in electrochemical processes. Herein, I will present some of our recent studies on the development of multiple/operando X-ray techniques for probing electrochemical catalysts and ion-batteries. The outlook of advanced X-ray techniques will be also discussed with new generation light source.

Curriculum Vitae：

Education:

Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics Institute of Physics, CAS 06/2006

Employment:

University of Science and Technology of China Professor in NSRL 2012-Current

Shinshu University, Japan Associate professor 2011-2012

Rice University, United States Postdoctoral fellow 2008-2011

University of Munich, Germany Alexander von Humboldt fellow 2006-2008

Research interests:

•Synchrotron Radiation-based techniques

X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray microscopy etc.

•Energy Materials and Devices

Ion-battery, Electro-catalysis, Nano-carbons etc.

Selected recent publications:

1. “Atomically dispersed platinum supported on curved carbon supports for efficient electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution” Daobin Liu, Xiyu Li, Shuangming Chen, Huan Yan, Changda Wang, Chuanqiang Wu, Yasir A.
